Nature Around Lake Der

Lake Der: Beaches, Water, Nature & Endless Space
Just a short distance from Domaine du Der are the famous ponds of Outines and Arrigny: a chain of water bodies, reed beds, and forest edges where nature takes center stage. The landscape was shaped centuries ago in part by Benedictine monks, who created waterways and ponds. Lake Der–Chantecoq is one of the Champagne region’s main attractions and is only a few minutes from Domaine du Der. With its sandy beaches, cycling paths, marinas, water sports, and scenic viewpoints, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing or active day. In summer, you can swim and sunbathe, while spring and autumn are ideal for walking and photography.

Cranes at Lake Der – A Unique Natural Spectacle in France
Every autumn and spring, Lake Der-Chantecoq becomes one of the most important places in Europe to see cranes. Tens of thousands of birds gather here to spend the night, creating an impressive spectacle at sunrise and sunset. Read more about birdwatching.

Walking and Cycling around Lake Der
The area around Lake Der-Chantecoq is a paradise for cyclists and hikers. The 38 km cycling route around the lake is flat, safe, and perfect for recreational cyclists. Along the way, you pass forests, beaches, and charming half-timbered villages.
